Here are the worksheets to use when applying Michel Fortin’s G.O.A.L. method. You can simply use the tables below as a model to guide you. You can use them on a sheet of paper, in your journal, or on your computer.

There are four worksheets in all:

  1. My Values
  2. My Guides
  3. My Objectives For (Guide)
  4. My Actions For (Objective)

My Values Worksheet

In the “values” worksheet, enter your values. Your priorities. The things that give you meaning. These are not goals but the feelings and end-result reaching any goal would give you.

My Guides Worksheet

Next is the “guides.” This is where you list your goals but align them with your guiding values. Remember, trying to reach a goal that’s misaligned with your personal priorities will set you up for frustration, stress, unhappiness, procrastination, even failure.

My Objectives Worksheet

Then, take one guide from your “guides” list, and use the “objectives” worksheet to list all the objectives you need to reach to achieve your goal. Break them down, step by step.

My Action Steps Worksheet

Then, with the “actions” worksheet, take one of the objectives above and list all the necessary actions you need to take to reach that objective. Finally, beside each action, add a liveline. That is, a date you want to start implementing the action.

A “liveline” is not a deadline. It is not a date by which you need to reach your objective but another guide, if you will, to let you know when you need to put your action into action.
